View of the World

I felt a strong urge to wrote this today.

Yesterday, I was reading this manga. At first, I didn't think much about it. I thought it would just be a normal manga. However, the story inside was very touching to the point where it drove me to crying every few pages.

This is the title: IS - Otoko demo Onna demo Nai Sei (You should try reading this. P.S Prepare a lot of tissue in advance. Trust me, you'll need it)

The whole manga itself talks about the hardships of Intersexuals. Ah.. Intersexuals are defined as people as who is neither male nor female.

Frankly speaking, while I was reading the synopsis I only had thoughts such as 'Ah... I think this will be interesting' or 'Maybe this will help to kill some time'

I was never more wrong.

The story inside was too real. To me, it really depicts what our society is.

Reading this manga got me thinking, why is our society such a hypocrite?

They say equal rights, however, women are still not ackowledged.

How about gay marriage? Why should they be banned? Isn't that equal to restricting the freedom of those individuals?

We may say one thing but our actions contradicts that.

See what I mean?

Anyway, in the manga itself, the protagonist suffers a lot of hardship from the society, friends, relatives and  even their families.

Some are shunned and hated due to their differences.

Isn't this what we call hypocritical?

From a young age, I've been told that being unique is a wonderful thing and that no one is the same, nobody can be a carbon copy of another. Even twins may have totally different personalities.

The should gender matter?

As I've said above, Intersexuals do not fall into either gender. So doesn't that make them unique?

But then why are they shunned because of this 'uniqueness'?

In my opinion, I don't think gender matters at all. I would gladly be their friend as long as they are nice people. Don't you think so?

Another example, nowadays people are saying things like 'Oh, appearance doesn't matter, as long as you have a good heart' or 'Be nice and everyone will accept you'

Well I can proudly tell you that all of these sugar coated words are total bullshit.

Society is not that nice.

Seriously, how many people can proudly say out loud that they don't care about appearance?

I would guess that in a case of 20- no 30 people maybe the most is only 1?

Of course all of these are just my assumptions, but i don’t think that all of these are baseless.

I guess I may sound like I've lost hope in our society, haha

But frankly speaking I know that all these rambling won't do a single thing. I mean I'm just one out of the 7 billion people in this big world.

 I guess that's enough of my ramblings. It's getting late no wait it's getting early so I probably should go to bed now.

Or should I do it alternately? Maybe one post in purely English, then another purely in Japanese, then finally one with a mix of both! (Hmm. sometimes maybe I should write one in Indonesian?)
